NATIONAL HIV CLASSROOM LEARNING CENTER

The National HIV Classroom Learning Center, supports the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, “End the Epidemic – A Plan for America”, which seeks to reduce new HIV infections by 75% in 5 years and achieve at least 90% reduction in 10 years.

MISSION:

The National HIV Classroom Learning Center, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, aims to strengthen the country’s HIV prevention workforce and thus accelerate progress towards the end of AIDS as an epidemic.

As a CAI Center of Excellence, the National HIV Classroom Learning Center conducts state of the art training programs in jurisdictions that have been hit hardest by HIV, addressing each of the key prevention pillars in the End The Epidemic plan. In addition, specialists within the National HIV Classroom are working with the CDC to design new HIV prevention and treatment curricula that focus on the four key strategies that together, can end the HIV epidemic in the U.S.

THE NATIONAL HIV CLASSROOM:

• Disseminates knowledge and builds skills and competencies to implement public health strategies, such as training on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), a bio-medical intervention proven to prevent new HIV infections
• Strengthens the capacity and improves the performance of CDC-funded staff from state and local health departments, community-based organizations, and healthcare providers in identifying and treating people living with HIV 

CAI has offices across the country, including in Atlanta, Denver, Los Angeles, and New York City and is well-positioned to meet the training needs of all members of the HIV workforce nationally, regionally and locally as they strive to eliminate HIV in our nation.
