Real-Time Assessment of UNICEF’s ongoing response to COVID-19 in ESA: Safe School Reopening

In April 2021, UNICEF Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESARO) initiated phase 2 of its Real-Time Assessment (RTA) of UNICEF’s response to COVID-19 across the Eastern and Southern Africa region. Based on qualitative data gathered from four countries (Ethiopia, Rwanda, South Africa and South Sudan), three reports were produced covering the following thematic areas: COVID-19 vaccine supply and rollout; COVID-19 vaccine demand promotion; and education, specifically the safe return to school. This video outlines the key findings, emerging themes, and lessons from the COVID-19 safe school reopening report.
